A Major Wine and Spirits Producer

Client Profile
Our client is one of the largest producer and marketer of wine and related products in Canada. The Company's products are produced at a family of estate wineries located in the provinces of British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. These wineries are supported by a national distribution network and dedicated sales and marketing team.

Challenge
Combining third-party, industry data to effectively cross- and up-sell. The Wine and Spirits industry has a rich dataset available for business intelligence. In addition to traditional internal systems such as ERP and retail Point of Sales (POS), the liquor boards across the country sell sales data back to producers/distributors. This data provides distributors with information about sales to every single licensed dealer – restaurants, bars, and stores – for every single SKU at a weekly level. This represents millions of rows of data per week.

Solution Summary
DSI implemented an integrated Finance and Inventory data warehouse solution in SQL Server 2005 (Enterprise Edition) on a Windows Server 2003 platform. The environment was deployed on eight servers using Hewlett-Packard blades and an HP Storage Area Network
